Call me old school. And my DO NOT's of FFB Draft Day!

Taking WR's over RB's in the 1st Round
Call me old school or just call me crazy. I've seen these mock drafts taking place this summer and I've asked myself... "Why are all of these Receivers coming off the board so early?" Antonio Brown, Julio Jones, and Odell Beckham are coming off the board often #1, #2, and #3. This is INSANE people! Now I know the RBs are like dinosaurs in that most offenses are moving to a more
pass oriented scheme. But there are STILL RB's that are workhorses and can carry that load you need them to carry as your #1 RB. Nothing against Antonio Brown or Julio Jones But I'd take guys like Todd Gurley, Adrian Peterson, and maybe even David Johnson over them. And as far as Odell Beckham... I'm not touching him. I think people are starting to feel the way I am because I've noticed changes just the last two days in mocks. Beckham seems to be falling and those RB's I mentioned are starting to creep up into the early 1st round. I'm super excited about my three drafts this coming weekend and I can't WAIT to see these guys take the guys I don't want so I can sit back and basically do what I did last year. Take exactly who I wanted and dominate all season long. People are listening to these "experts" and I hope they continue to do so. They did last year and now I have the 2015 Red Zone Faction Championship hanging in THE CAVE.

So please, ignore my blog, or like my brother Travis Wilson, think that I'm swaying you a certain way as if I'm manipulating you into taking the guys I don't want. Either way this weekend will be a lot of fun.
Getting ready for draft day! (The do nots)

As a commissioner going on almost 15 years draft day is always one of my favorite days of the year. It's the one time your league is all together and you can brag, try to avoid, or trash talk about the previous year as well as the upcoming season. So lets go over some things you should NOT do.
1. Bring your girlfriend/wife
Look, we all have them. And some are even into football and may even play fantasy football (I know a few). But this atmosphere is for the men of the league. And I'm not being chauvinist here. I'm just stating facts. I hear the term "girls night out" all the time. Well this is guys night/day out. So lets leave the women at home.
2. Showing up late
Showing up late really ticks the others off and depending on how late you are the commissioner could have a light stroke. If one person doesn't show he's the one left holding the bag and it's on him to fix it. That's why it's ALWAYS good as a commissioner to have a back up on speed dial ready to go if you need them. These things happen. I've been lucky enough through the years to be surrounded by fantasy football lovers that would miss their child's birthday over a fantasy draft so I've never been there. I'm kidding. I'd reschedule. Or find a replacement. BE ON TIME!
3. Showing up empty handed
Showing up empty handed is flat out ridiculous. You should always have cheat sheet of your own. And typically money is involved (BRING IT!). Most of the draft parties I'm involved with are "pot luck". Bring food, beer, something! Minimal you should have cheat sheets. How else are you going to keep up with so much so fast? And more importantly how are you going to know who to draft and where? Looking at someone else's homework and sheets is unacceptable. DO YOUR OWN HOMEWORK!
4. Reaching
Yes reaching. When you reach you allow the next guy to land a draft pick he should have never had an opportunity to get. It's stupid. Stick to your board and take the next best available player. This also goes along with my headline topic today. Reaching can really chew up a draft and cause ruffles within the league. If done more than once the commissioner starts receiving texts and emails. True story! HA!
5. Level of Intoxication
Never should you get so intoxicated you can't keep up with players taken. And NEVER be completely wasted when you ARRIVE to your draft. It's annoying. Not everyone drinks or does drugs. It starts gossip within the league and people start talking. Fantasy drafts are not about getting hammered and falling on your face. That's only for the winners (and losers I guess) AFTER the draft, through the season, and at the end when that ONE man holds the title. Plus as a commissioner I do not want you loaded when you leave my draft. When you have an accident on your way home the wife calls me looking for you. You die, I die? Understand? Be responsible. That's all I'm saying.
Well this has been a fun write for Monday. I hope you all enjoyed it as much as I did. As always "like" and "share" on Facebook. Please look us up on twitter @therealfaction . Our Facebook fan page is @ The Red Zone Faction. Not a ton of activity there this far on either but we look forward to changing that. I'll be back again tomorrow. I'll take fantasy questions on Facebook and twitter between now and then and answer them here. That's all for Monday. God bless you and have a great Monday!
