The Wait Is Over! Fantasy Football Draft Weekend Is Finally Here!

Ah yes! You can smell it in the air. It's finally here folks. And this weekend I'll be involved with three live drafts. One on Saturday and two on Sunday. The two on Sunday are the two I manage. Both same league settings. PPR. Two Flex (WR/RB/TE), One QB. But the one on Saturday, the first of the three, has a "total utility player. Something I had not heard of until my good pal Sam Tarantole (commissioner of that league) brought it to my attention. For those that do not know what a total utility player is, it easy. If its a position, you can use them here. It's like a total flex only I like to call it a Super Flex.

So in Saturdays draft my strategy will not be the norm. Quarterbacks with fall off the board early. And unlike the two drafts on Sunday, I do not know yet when I'm picking so doing homework takes a bit longer weighing all options from all angles. But I'm thrilled to take on this new challenge. I also look forward to how this draft goes down. If I pick early do I take a QB and hope to get a WR or RB in the late 2nd? Or do I eat it and take the best player available that is NOT a QB. I do not want to end up with Jared Goff and RG III as my starting QB's. The Tittsburgh Feelers HAVE to be on their game during this draft Saturday night. But hey, I'm not the commissioner and I usually play better in those leagues. Right Marc Wamsley?

Sundays two draft will be different. The first draft is at 1pm C.T. This is what I've labeled my "work league". This is also where the name "The Red Zone Faction" originated as this is the name of the league. Or "Faction" for short. You can check the guys out on our "FACTION" page. I'll be posting scores, rankings, and anything news worthy about that league on our "PODCAST" page. This league has been around about 7 years now. I created this league as sort of like a training course for fantasy football. Most of them have been with me that long. Others have bailed and I've managed to pick up new guys along the way. I really enjoy showing the new guys how to play. Watching their eyes light up when they win or get a guy off waivers that blew up that week. I like being apart of those conversations and watching them grow into fantasy fanatics. Its' fun. And I love this league.

Now on to my second draft. This one is at 6pm. Same location. We have some history in this league. This league's name used to be "Alabanga". We traded draft picks. We had keepers. We had ridiculous rules for ridiculous things. After 11 years I decided that it had gotten out of hand and at the last minute (literally a week before the draft. Allen and Sam... A year later and I'm still apologizing. I'm sorry). I wanted to be a fair commissioner. So I put everything, and I mean everything, up for vote. At the end of the day that's what destroyed Alabanga. Over the years I lost managers for one reason or another. But this year I've brought back most of the guys that were around in the beginning. And this time there is no voting. I'm setting this up in a way I think everyone will enjoy. And that's all there is to it. No votes. They're more than welcome to come see me if they'd like to talk about changing something next year. But more than likely its going to stay the same. As a commissioner I'm always looking to improve my league. But now I'm just in a different place. And I'm super good with that. Some of these guys have rolled with me through all of it. Last year I missed them. So I brought them back and named the league "The Lost Tribe of Alabanga". Or "Tribe" for short. I'm of course Chief Slapaho. My team name is The Slapaho Warriors. No words can describe how happy I will be when I see all of these guys in the Cave Sunday night for the draft.

The weekend is here! And Its time to draft your championship fantasy football team! This is your favorite fantasy football commissioner telling you, you better not be late, you better bring your money, and for the love of God... BRING SOMETHING TO EAT OR DRINK. You folks that show up empty handed are always the first ones in line at the food table. This baffles me...

Well I hope you all that are not in my leagues have a great draft! For those that are... Well I hope you don't. Please take with you that last paragraph. You all have a fantastic fantasy draft weekend and have a blessed Friday!

Your favorite commissioner,

-Scott
